Congressman Allen Introduces Resolution Recognizing "National March into Literacy Month"

This week, Congressman Rick W. Allen (GA-12) introduced H. Res. 1022, a resolution expressing support for the designation of the month of March 2024 as "National March into Literacy Month." Upon its introduction, Congressman Allen issued the following statement:

"Childhood literacy is critical to ensure our youth can achieve the American Dream. As a grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I am wholeheartedly committed to promoting and advancing childhood literacy initiatives, which is why I am proud to introduce this resolution to designate March as ‘National March into Literacy Month.’

"We know that children who are reading capably by the third grade are more likely to lead successful lives, underscoring the necessity of intervening early and instilling a love for reading. By prioritizing early literacy efforts, we are not only empowering our youth, but also laying the foundation for their future success. I am honored to introduce this resolution to shine a bright light on the importance of childhood literacy."
